The truth about Lover Dee

Born in Mengo, Uganda in 1980, he looks a jolly fellow fulfilling what he loves the most.
In 1994, together with his brother Willy, the London based Lover Dee acquired visas to go and study in Sweden where his father was living at the time. He started school and took to music in 1999. Lover Dee and Willy started rapping together in Swedish using the name ‘RWENZURURU BOYS,” as their stage name. Later they were to release a hit called ‘MET HANDERNA,’meaning, put your hands up. Together they performed that single in different schools and locations namely; Tensta gymnasium, Blackberg gymnasium, Spanga gymnasium and also during the great Tensta festival.

early 2000 Willy and Lover Dee stopped rapping consequently L, started recording and performing the African style commonly referred to as ‘ndombolo’. He did music in Lukonzo (a southwestern Ugandan tribe) and English and later released a CD titled ‘THUYOWE’ (let’s enjoy) which boasted of 9 powerful tracks. It was mostly purchased in the western district of kasese.

In 2002, he dropped another compact disc ‘THUYINYWIRE’ (let us drink) with 10 tracks. It was to later be followed with a performance in Uganda covering the districts of Mbarara, Kasese and the entire Tooro region. He recorded a video for the same in kasese.

In 2003, after securing a contract with junior records, Lover Dee left Sweden for UK (London) and this time not to record ‘ndombolo’ but the more radio/club friendly Reggae and dance hall music. ‘The contract is purely ragga’, he says. It’s this drastic change that forced him to fully take on the name Lover Dee. He’s done remixes of hit tracks such as; Get busy, bad man, money to burn etc.

I am now working on my next album due 2005’ he says with an air of a satisfied entrepreneur.
