1 on 1 with Viboyo
Viboyo was one of the first Ugandan artists that I met when I just started working at Music Uganda in 2002. He was a frequent face in our offices, until the constant face disappeared off the music scene now he is back. One of our reporters came across Viboyo and he explains what he has been up to. Viboyo started in 1997 with hip-hop, in 2002 he changed to Afro-beat and released songs like ‘Owino Muwulire’, which he considers his biggest song.
Viboyo decided to put his music career on hold and promote other musicians and writing for them music, for some he managed, handled their packaging, oversaw production, bridged the gap between the night clubs, radio and TV stations. Such artists include Bella, Priscilla Kalibala, Kid Fox, James B, Cyrus the Virus, Yvette, just a few. He also runs Soundroom, a shop located on Wilson Rd which has overseen the production of all the musicians’ cds, designing and duplicating, acting as a link between audio and video producers.
